Philadelphia, Pa. -- Duquesne University's men's cross country team, placing five runners in the top 14, won the program's first ever Atlantic 10 title topping defending champion and second place La Salle Saturday morning at the league championship race at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.

The Dukes edged the Explorers by 11 points, 44-55.

Sophomore Tom Slosky's fourth place finish via a time of 24:52.0 led the Red and Blue. Senior Zack Dorman was seventh, sophomore Chris Horvat eighth, senior Kevin Borrelli 11th and freshman Josh Eddy was 14th as all five DU runners were named to the All-Conference Team. Head Coach Jim Lear was named the A-10 men's cross country coach of the year.

"Our seniors believed they could win and they really went after it and I am so proud of them," said Lear. "Coach Torpey [La Salle] and Coach Glavin [Saint Joseph's] have set the bar real high in this Conference in terms of distance running and that helped us get to where we are today. It's a great day for Duquesne."

La Salle's Sean Quigley won the individual title with a time of 24:28.9. Dayton's Mike Andersen finished ninth to win the Most Outstanding Rookie honor.

Charlotte placed third in its inaugural season in the Atlantic 10 with 74 points, followed by Saint Joseph's (111), Richmond (155), Massachusetts (167), Xavier (184), Dayton (185), Fordham (198), George Washington (292), Saint Louis (310), Rhode Island (334), Temple (434), and St. Bonaventure (453).
