The Dukes placed five runners on the All-Conference team as sophomore Tom Slosky (Brackenridge, PA / Highlands) was fourth, senior Zack Dorman (Imperial, PA / West Allegheny) seventh, junior Chris Horvat (Cleveland, OH / Gilmour Academy) eighth, senior Kevin Borrelli (Dickson City, PA / Mid-Valley) 11th and freshman Josh Eddy (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) 14th in the league championship race. La Salle, tyhe defending champs, were second with four runners named All-Conference.
Duquesne is in fourth place in the current United States Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic poll. The is DU's best-ever ranking.
The A-10 announced the Academic All-Conference team Tuesday. Duquesne's Borrelli was named Academic All-Conference for the third consecutive season. An elementary education major with a 3.37 GPA, Borelli finished among the top four for Duquesne in four of five races this year, including a 13th place showing at the prestigious National Catholic Championship.
Also competing on the 10k course Saturday will be American, Bucknell, Coppin State, Delaware, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Washington, Georgetown, La Salle, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola College, Marshall, Maryland, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Rider, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Francis PA), St. Joseph's, St. Peter's, UMBC, UPenn, Villanova and Western Carolina.
Last season the Dukes finished 11th following a 15th place result in 2003.
The NCAA Finals will be held at Indiana State University's Wabash Valley Family Sports Center
in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, November 21, 2005.
Duquesne also has the IC4A championships on their schedule. This annual eastern college race, hosted this year by Fordham University, will be held on Saturday, November 19 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York.
