St. Louis - Saint Louis head men's basketball coach Brad Soderberg today announced that 6-foot-8 forward Adam Knollmeyer (Linn, Mo. / Linn HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play basketball for the Billikens. He will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2006-07 academic year.
"Adam will provide a physical presence as a strong, power forward type player, who has the ability to make an immediate impact in our program," Soderberg said. "He has proven that he can score from around the basket as well as from the perimeter. At the other end of the floor, he is an outstanding rebounder and post defender. Considering our needs at that position, we are thrilled that Adam has decided to become a Billiken."
Knollmeyer was selected 3A first-team All-State by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) and second-team All-State by the Missouri Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season. He led Linn High School to a 26-4 record while averaging 18 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and four assists per game. He shot 58 percent from the field and was named the Show-Me Conference Player of the Year as well as first-team All-District. After playing his first three seasons at Jefferson City Helias, Knollmeyer was a 2005 Street & Smith's honorable mention All-America.
"I chose Saint Louis because there is a chance to step in and play right away, plus the Billikens are going to be a good team next year," Knollmeyer said. "I can play inside, go outside and shoot from the power forward spot, so I think I'll be able to help."
"Adam has the ability to play inside-out, because he can bang down on the block but also has plenty of range," Linn head coach Ryan Robertson said. "He has good body control and excellent hands."
Knollmeyer joins 6-foot-5 guard Dustin Maguire (Bethalto, Ill. / Edwardsville HS), who signed during the 2005 fall early signing period, in this recruiting class.
