Dukes Win 1st Game of 2006 Football Season

Duquesne University's football team picked up their first win of the 2006 season with a 27-7 victory over cross-town rival Robert Morris Saturday afternoon in Moon Township. This win comes after last week's loss to Bucknell as a last second touchdown forced overtime.

  • Sophomore Scott Knapp threw two touchdown passes to junior Bruce Hocker via 68 and 30 yard scoring passes, both in the first quarter.
  • Knapp completed 12 of 22 passes for 193 yards
  • Hocker caught 5 passes for 133 yards
  • Sophomore Aaron Strader scored on a 96-yard interception return
  • Senor Jeremy McCullough led the Dukes with 65 yards on 13 carries
  • Sophomore Mark Troyan hit two field goals. The first from 27 yards with 0:22 left in the first half; the other from 42 yards with 10:17 left in the game
  • Duquesne defense sacked the Robert Morris quaterback 6 times
  • RMU scored on a 19-yard pass from Erik Cwalinski to Alvin Hill with 6:23 left in the third quarter
  • Robert Morris's Brian Harden led all rushers with 82 yards on 9 carries
