"The past 72 hours have presented an extremely challenging time for the Duquesne University community and our basketball program. It is a challenge we are dealing with on an hour-to-hour, day-to-day basis.

"The Department of Athletics, coach Everhart, his staff and the team have received an unprecedented outpouring of support from those on campus, alumni, fellow members of the Atlantic 10 Conference and many, many people affiliated with college basketball and college athletics.

"Your support and prayers have helped greatly as we offer care and compassion to those affected by Sunday morning's event."
