Hall of Fame for Suzie McConnell-Serio

PITTSBURGH - The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame announced during halftime at Sunday's WNBA All-Star game that Duquesne University head basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio will be part of its tenth group of inductees, the Class of 2008.

The six individuals in the Class of 2008 will be formally introduced as members of the Hall of Fame during a weekend of induction festivities to be held June 13-14, 2008, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Suzie McConnell-Serio was hired as the ninth head coach in the 34-year history of the Duquesne women's basketball program on Friday, April 13, 2007.

Others is the class are:

• Patty Broderick, women’s basketball official who was inaugural winner of the Naismith Female Basketball Official of the Year Award in 1988
• Lin Laursen, head coach of Central Arizona College since 1974 has a 937-144 (.867) career record
• Debbie Ryan, 30 years as Virginia's women's basketball coach with a 651-278 (.694) mark
• Jill Rankin-Schneider, Kodak All-American at Wayland Baptist College in 1978-79 and at the University of Tennessee in 1979-80
• Michell Timms, the three-time Olympian was named the Women’s International Player of the Year in 1994 and 1996.
