Rigot, a native of Bethel Park, Pa., has accompanied teams to postseason play in 11 of his 13 seasons as a Division I assistant coach. He most recently served as an assistant under Tubby Smith at Kentucky from 2002-03 through 2006-07.
"I'm very pleased and excited to have Scott and his family join the Duquesne basketball family," said Everhart. "I have known Scott since we were 18 and working Five Star camps together. He is a quality person and great coach who has extensive knowledge of the game. Scott will bring stability and a wide range of experience to our program."
Rigot, who has made at least one NCAA tournament appearance at each of the four previous Division I coaching stops - Kentucky, Hawaii, UAB and South Carolina - has also excelled as a head coach, having led Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College to a 158-35 record in six seasons from 1990-91 through 1995-96.
Rigot has established a reputation as a highly successful recruiter - especially in international circles.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity to work with a good friend whom I've known for over 25 years," said Rigot of his relationship with Everhart. "I'm also looking forward to returning home and working at a University I respect a great deal. Ron has done a great job at Duquesne and I can't wait to do what I can to help the program continue to improve."
The hiring of Rigot fills one of two assistant coach vacancies on Everhart's staff. Greg Gary, who was on the Duquesne staff last season, left to accept the head coaching position at Centenary College in Shreveport, La. in early April. Kim Lewis, a Louisiana native who spent four seasons with Everhart, accepted an assistant position on Gary's staff on April 24.
