Dave Telep leads Scout's recruiting coverage. This week, he's been covering the NBAPA Invitational for recommended high school players throughout the nation. And Frank Burlison, a Hall of Fame reporter who covered the NCAA tournament for Scout, is currently reporting about next Thursday's NBA draft. That's just the start of Scout's national coverage.
July's open evaluation periods for Division I men's basketball college coaches are just two weeks away (7/6-15 and 7/22-31). There will be a lot of reports from the camps (ABCD, Nike, etc) and AAU/club tournaments.For the better stories with more information, gotta be a Scout subscriber.
Duquesne men's basketball is rising. The recruiting Class of 2008 is one of the best in the nation.
Anyone think eight new players would be coming in this Fall? NThe Class of 2009 starts at three (seniors) but ... And there's already a verbal commitment for 2010-11!
Coach Ron Everhart's quintet improved from 10-19 to 17-13. Folks are legitimately optimistic about this season.
Women's basketball, will the Hall of Fame's Suzie McConnell-Serio at the helm, is also on the rise. This year's team was 15-15 versus 7-20 in 2006-07.
This past season was the first time the DU women were .500 or better since 2003-04 (16-13). For the men, it was the first since 1993-94 (17-13)
And the Dukes are really involved in Div. I-AA (CFS) football recruiting. in February, Coach Jerry Schmitt announced the Dukes' first scholarship class since the 40's and a Big Ten, number 2 quarterback has transferred to Duquesne. This is also the Dukes' first in the Northeast Conference. A possible post-season game is in the hunt.
