We saw the Dukes get back in form this past season. Coach Everhart's squad achieved a 17-13 record, the best on the Bluff in 14 years. The 17 overall wins were the most since the 1993-94 NIT team, which also finished 17-13.

First-year coach McConnell-Serio's team, which was picked for 13th place following a 7-20 record in 2006-07, surprised the league with a .500 season (15-15), finishing as the number nine seed in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.

The men's team needs to replace their top five scorers, three of whom are playing professional ball overseas. There's one senior, Mr. Do-It-All Aaron Jackson, and eight new faces in a recruiting class ranked in the top 30 by Clark Francis's HoopScoop.com. As the sportscasters say, "You're going to need a scorecard." We'll be watching as Coach Everhart designs another successful season.

Coach McConnell-Serio returns all but two players. The team will be led by senior point guard Kristi Little, the A-10's 2008 Defensive Player of the Year. Seeing their first action will be two new freshman along with a pair of juniors who "sat out" last season after transferring from Miami (OH) and Ohio. A familiar face has joined the Dukes as an assistant coach, Pittsburgh-native Carmen Bruce.
