The Roanoke Times reports in Wednesday's edition that a defensive back, and son of a top jazz musician, in Duquesne's first recruiting class may transfer to the ACC's Virginia Tech.

Brown, who also had looks from Clemson, Maryland, Miami (FL) and West Virginia out of high school, would rejoin his brother, junior backup defensive end Nekos, on the Hokies roster.

Brown came to Duquesne from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, which had been 9-2 in 2007. During his senior season at Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf, Md., Brown had 91 tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception and was named first team All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference by the Washington Post.

This season with the 3-7 Dukes, Wiley finished fifth on the team with 30 solo tackles and sixth with 50 total takedowns. He also recorded two sacks, had two forced fumbles, broke up two passes and ran for 31 yards on his only kickoff return. Duquesne finished 2-5 in their first season in the limited scholarship Northeast Conference.

Apparently the Football Bowl Subdivision schools begged off when Brown was at prep school but picked up on his abilities in a year with Duquesne.

The players' father, Chuck, is a noted jazz guitarist and singer known as the "Godfather of Go Go." The Times' article was about the elder Brown's upcoming performance at Roanoke's Jefferson Center. The information on Wiley's potential transfer was literally a parenthetical remark. Check his website for a sample.
