Kieron Achara, who completed his Duquesne career in 2007-08, averaged 4.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game last season for Fortitudo, which plays in the same league. Fortitudo and Biella both compete in the Serie A - known as the top professional league in Italy.
"They made the final four in Italy last season and will compete in the Eurocup this year," said Achara who is currently in his native Scotland preparing for workouts with the British National Team. "It was an opportunity I could not turn down."
Achara finished his career ranked 19th on Duquesne's all-time scoring list with 1,240 career points and second in career blocked shots with 185. He tied for second-most games played in school history with 115.
Achara is one of five Ron Everhart-coached Duquesne players who will be playing professionally overseas this fall along with former teammates Aaron Jackson (Antalya - Turkey), Reggie Jackson (Newcastle Eagles - Great Britain), Shawn James (Bnei-Hasharon - Israel) and Gary Tucker (Science City Jena - Germany).
