B.J. Monteiro Reinstated by Coach Everhart

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports this evening that sophomore swingman B.J. Monteiro has been reinstated to Duquesne's men's basketball team.

Update: Wed. Oct. 14 - 12:30 am

Monteiro and two other teenagers were arrested last week on theft charges. Charges against all defendants were dropped today in Bantam Superior Court, Conn. Head coach Ron Everhart told reporter Dave Mackall, "The court proceedings have concluded and B.J. Monteiro will be reinstated to the men's basketball team tomorrow."

Monteiro, who was the Hartford Courant 2008 State Player of the Year at Crosby High School in Waterbury, Conn., averaged 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in 9.9 minutes per game in 30 games, the last 25 off the bench. He is one of seven returning freshmen from Duquesne's 2008-09, 21-13 team.
