Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week Damian Saunders had his third straight double-double with a career-high 24 points, 11 rebounds -- eight on the offensive boards, three steals and two assists.
Fellow junior Bill Clark had 17 points including five three-pointers, a new personal best. Sophomore B.J. Monteiro, in his second start this season for the injured Melquan Bolding, added 10 points.
The Dukes shot 51.8 percent from the floor including 10-25 from beyond the arc (40.0%). DU, which only had five attempts at the foul line, made a pair (40.0%).
Binghamton outrebounded DU, 33-32, but the Red and Blue had six fewer turnovers (13-19).
The Bearcats, who shot 35.8 percent from the floor (19-53), were led by a pair of junior forwards, Moussa Camara with 16 points and Greer Wright with 12. Freshman guard Dylan Talley added 11 points.
Binghamton made 20.0% of their three-point attempts (5/20) and hit 9-of-11 from the charity stripe (81.8%).
Before the season started, the New York squad had six players, including the top three returning scorers, dismissed for the team, had athletic director Joel Thirer resign, and head coach Kevin Broadushad placed on administrative leave. Former Temple star Mark Macon is the interim head coach.
Clark opened the game scoring with a trey. The Dukes stretched the lead to 34-19 via a 16-6 run and led by 16, 41-25, at the halftime break.
Freshman center Pina Guillaume's two free throws were the first points of the second half (41-28). Saunders streaking layup from Monteiro started a 9-2 run that extended DU's advantage to 52-29, the team's largest lead of the game.
The two teams pretty much matched each other after that. Monteiro's layup from freshman Sean Johnson closed the scoring for the 70-52 final mark.
