| Transferred from Duquesne to Wright State following his freshman season. He started every game except those when he was among the quintet waiting for their turn in Coach Ron Everhart's two platoon, 10-40 (10 players, 40 minutes) style of play. As the second tallest player on the 2006-07 Dukes, Grote relieved 6-10 Kieron Achara's clan and took over the post duties, matching up with the other team's, generally taller and bulkier, post player.
Even with this hindrance, Grote averaged 9.9 points, 4,1 rebounds - 38 percent on the offensive end, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals for the undermanned 10-19 Dukes. He also made 31.8 percent of his three-point attempts (34/107).
With the influx of forwards from college transfers and recruiting, Grote decided to return to his homestate and his family's school. His father, Bob, was Wright State's first All-American and also starred in baseball. His uncle, Mike Grote, started for the 1983 NCAA Division II championship team. |
